TGIF…WOOO!

Well it’s that time of the week where everyone’s facebook status updates say some version of “Thank God it’s Friday!”.  And I say, “WE KNOW ITS FRIDAY AND THAT MEANS YOU HAVE THE WEEKEND OFF OF WORK, WE GET IT!”

Whew, now that that’s off my chest, let’s get to this weekends major matchups around the wide world of sports. (Home team in CAPS)

NCAA FOOTBALL

TCU vs UTAH

First off, thanks Texas Christian University for messing up my “Home team in CAPS” rule because I refuse to type out the entire name for a school when it’s abbreviation is more widely known.  Second, the Horned Frogs are a very, very good team.  Third, the Utes are a very, very good team.  TCU beat Baylor earlier in the year but this was in September and Baylor is a better team now.  This game will go down with the classic football adage of “whoever makes the most mistakes will lose”.

Prediction: TCU 20 - Utah 29

Arizona vs STANFORD

In the real must watch college game of the weekend (we all know that Bama will take care of the Had Hatter and beat LSU, handedly) We have a Pac-10 (soon to be 12) showdown that could ultimately decide who plays in the Rose Bowl (barring Oregon losing).  I’m big on Stanford this year and they are a real fun team to watch and easy to root for.  Arizona lives on big plays and their Stoops defense and are also getting starting QB Nick Foles back from injury which, you know, could give them a boost or something.

Prediction: Arizona 31 – Stanford 38

NFL

Tampa Bay vs ATLANTA

In unlikely matchup #1 of division contenders it’s the first place Falcons vs the first place Bucs.  Yes, we’ll soak that one in together….The first place Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Josh Freeman has only had six comeback victories already in his career that spans, oh 16 games.  Not bad.  Tampa Bay is the best team in the NFC, yeah I said it.

Prediction: Tampa 27 – Atlanta 17

Indianapolis vs PHILADELPHIA

Vick comes back this week for the Eagles but he’s going to be chased by Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis all afternoon and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kevin Kalb for a few series because Andy Reid is goofy like that.  All in all, Peyton is having anther MVP season and he just keeps on being Peyton.

Prediction: Indy 24 – Philly 10

Kansas City vs OAKLAND

In unlikely matchup #2 of division contenders, it’s a rivalry that will get the blood flowing in Chris Berman’s body.  Its the Chiefs vs the Raaaaaaaaaiders. Both teams are this years NFL surprises (along with Tampa) and both look to get a leg up on the AFC West with a win on Sunday.  Kansas City wants to prove they are real and a win on the road in Oakland with all the crazies would go a long way in confirming this.

Prediction: KC 17 – Oakland 13

NBA

Boston vs OKLAHOMA CITY

According to all of the experts (me included) this what the NBA’s third place series would look like.  Both teams are at the top of their respected conferences and even though its still very early in this years NBA season, both teams look to make a statement.  Oh and Rondo, KG and Kevin Durant are on my fantasy team (yeah, pretty ballin)

Prediction: Boston 92 – OKC 98

Portland vs LOS ANGELES

People question if Kobe can keep up his relentless style of play throughout the entire regular season and into the post season, but what people fail to realize is that he’s Kobe, he can do anything.  He’s still the best player in the game and his team is stacked again this year.  Can’t wait for game seven in LA vs the Heat…

Prediction: Portland 93 – LA 109
