DUI's and Athletes

What is so hard for people to understand? If you are drunk, call a cab or have someone drive you home. It doesn't make any sense to me. You could seriously hurt yourself or others (inside or outside the car). Such is the case in the Donte' Stallworth incident.

If you have not heard yet Stallworth was charged today with DUI manslaughter stemming from the March 14th accident where Stallworth was driving home from a club inside of the Fountainebleau Hotel in South Beach and hit a man with his car. The man did not make it and Stallworth blew a .126, obviously well over the legal limit of .08. Stallworth said that he "flashed" his lights at the man to warn him of his presence. Are you kidding me? You flashed your lights and thought "well I warned him, not my fault if he gets hit." Well in that case, you are excused from the law Donte'. An early fantasy outtake on this situation: it would be wise not to draft him. Unless you some how get Ray Lewis on your team. Then you could be called the murderers (sorry lame attempt at a joke).

Another athlete that plead guilty to a DUI today is Joba Chamberlain. He will be fined and given probation from the October 18th incident. I can understand why Joba got his DUI...he was in Nebraska. Have you ever been to Nebraska? There is absolutely nothing to do there but drink, and then drive home. At least he was awake at the wheel during his traffic stop.

In closing, please don't drink and drive. Call a cab. Call a friend. Hell, call me, I will pick you up. Until next time...
